More about The Rock
As we highlighted on our home page, The Rock is an Elim Pentecostal Church, of which there are over 500 throughout the UK. Elim has had a congregation in Edinburgh since 1932, and the pentecostal/charismatic movement is reckoned to have in the region of 500 million worldwide adherents. We value our heritage, but recognise that we are only a part of the wider church community, and as such, The Rock maintains and encourages growing relationships with local churches from many denominations and none.
We believe that God wants to be personally involved in our lives, and that he demonstrated this clearly through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. The bible goes on to tell us about the work that the Holy Spirit does, and many people in church today have experienced God's help with their lives as a result of the activity of the Holy Spirit.
At The Rock, the most important thing about church is not maintaining the bricks and mortar of a building, but genuinely investing in people. We are always looking for new ways to help and encourage each other to grow in our love for God and each other, and we use every church gathering as a platform to promote a sense of thanksgiving to God, and respect and care for others around us. This extends beyond 'church' and we reach out to those in our community who are less fortunate than ourselves.
