About The Rock
We're an Elim Pentecostal Church - a charismatic evangelical movement that has over 500 churches in the UK.

What Pentecostals believe
Elim Pentecostal churches hold mainstream Christian beliefs; we affirm the unchanging truth of the bible, that Jesus is God's only Son, and that we can only be reconciled to God the Father by accepting Jesus as our Lord and Saviour. We also believe that God is still active today by His Holy Spirit. You can read Elim's Statement of Faith by clicking here

Who's Who
Well, we've got the minister, Paul Meiklejohn, who's been here for nearly 15 years. He gets a lot of help from his Church Elders, Alan and Sandra, and also from Geoff - who works full time with young adults, our outreach, and our discipleship programmes, and from Debbie who runs the office. But there's a whole lot of ministry leaders and church deacons that really make the wheels of the church turn round.

Where we meet
Elim sold it's building in Edinburgh some years ago, so the local congregation (there's a couple of hundred of us in church) meet in the Hilton Grosvenor Hotel, Haymarket most Sundays (except when the hotel is full). We have 2 services at 11am and 6pm.

What to expect at church
Services are relaxed, fairly informal and welcoming. People from all ages and backgrounds join us for about 90 minutes of worship that is vibrant and contemporary, and life-relevant bible teaching. We almost always have opportunity for prayer for just about any need, and we always have tea and coffee afterwards. We have kids church for all ages from infants to 16 years old during our morning service.

What activities do we do as a church?
Just about everything really. For spiritual growth, we have small groups all over town that are great for learning more about God and getting connected with others; there's also weekly bible studies, prayer events, healing meetings, mens and ladies ministries running, as well as group for young adults, Asian students, and Polish ladies.

Aside from all that, we enjoy lots of other things like coffee get-togethers, football (the lads have a team in the church league), and so on, and Engage (young adults) have a whole array of things going on!

We take our outreach seriously, and we are heavily involved in homeless ministry in the Grassmarket, Overseas Missions, and general Christian witness in Edinburgh - including lots of events on our (now famous!) double-decker bus.

What if I've got a question?
We'd love to hear it! Go ahead and get in touch with anything that you'd like to ask. Or feel free to pop in to church any Sunday and have a chat with one of us afterwards over a coffee.
