Overseas Missions - Rwanda
Rock Elim send out a team every year to work with Nibakure Children's Village in Rwanda. We're going again this July, and preparations are well under way!
The Vision
Dawn Hibbert, the team leader, has had a heart to work with the Rwandan people ever since she took part in Hope Rwanda in 2006. She believes God desires full reconciliation and healing for the Rwandans in the aftermath of the genocide of 1994, where more than 800,000 people lost their lives.
The Nibakure Children's Project's mission to the children of Rwanda is to 'Let Them Grow, Give Them Hope'. Florainne Brown, the leader of Nibakure Children's Project, aims to construct a village for orphans with several houses for up to 10 Children each to bring safe housing, healthcare, education and career training. The plans include building a health clinic, church and a school.
The Project
Last year, the team helped in the laying of the foundations and construction of three of the homes for orphans. They spent three days doing a programme for children who are part of a Compassion project, linked with a local Presbyterian church. They also worked with street children with the Friends of Jesus organisation. Over the course of the three weeks they were able to provide meals for over 2000 children, made over 400 bricks, and gave out lots of clothing, school equipment, and tools needed for building. They also saw many children come to know Christ and experience His healing and love.
This year, the team aims to build on the foundations of what was accomplished last year. We'll be helping with the construction of the site and continuing to bring ministry and fun to the children and child-headed families.
Get Involved
We'd really appreciate your prayer while we're in Rwanda - that God uses us effectively while we're out there and that God's will is accomplished for the people of Rwanda
We'd also love to have your help fundraising so we can get our team out to Rwanda, and so that we can bring supplies out to Nibakure.
We'll be also looking for more people to join us out in Nibakure next year!
