Our Sunday Services
We welcome guests to church from many backgrounds, nationalities and age groups. Our style tends to be relaxed and so most people dress comfortably, and enjoy the very warm and social atmosphere that we have on Sundays.
Our services begin at 11am, and usually last around 90 minutes. This page takes you through a typical Sunday service at The Rock covering our worship, the pastor's talk, a bit about prayer, what we do for kids, and what happens at the end of the service.
BEFORE THE SERVICE STARTS
Visitors are always welcomed as they come into the hall, and as you take your seat there's usually time to meet people around you and read the welcome sheet that was handed to you as you came in.
WORSHIP
We start most services by singing vibrant songs of thanks to God in a contemporary and informal style. We are comfortable if people want to offer their personal worship openly, but our aim is that our thanks to God is heart-felt and genuine. You can have a look at what our time of worship looks like here.
TALK
At each service, a speaker will talk about an aspect of God or Christian living based on the Bible. These talks are informative and often thought-provoking! We normally allow 25-40 minutes for this part of the service.
PRAYER
There is time most Sundays to receive prayer. We usually find that God helps those being prayed for, and there can often be diverse responses to prayer ministry.
CHILDREN
While the talk is on, ROCKIDZ – church for kids – takes place for children aged 5 years upwards, with THE ATTIC takes older children from primary 7 upwards. All our Sunday School helpers are Disclosure-checked and fall within the guidelines of The Rock's Child Protection Policy. For infants under 5 we have a fully-manned Sunday Creche facility that looks after the young ones during the talk.
SERVICE END
We serve tea and coffee at the back of the hall. This is a good time to make new friends, meet the pastor, or visit our Connect Information Point which has resources and news on just about everything that's happening at The Rock.
